In a bizarre partnership that defies traditional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Adventure Disclosed

According to the official release, "A mysterious meeting leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of prohibited practices and fearsome changes echo through the darkness." The narrative introduces a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a hidden cult.

The questline centers on "peculiar experiments and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Changes

The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a powerful sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Extra Material

Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an exclusive katana together with numerous artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps steed

Newest Free Story Addition

This patch also brings the game's newest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This signifies hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series formerly featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
