Close to 25,000 Experiencing Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Intense Storms
Nearly 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland were left without power on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the region, bringing strong winds reaching 109km/h.
Substantial Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Impact
Residents reported giant hailstones as large as 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams deployed to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
At the same time, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also experienced energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Rescue organizations received over five hundred requests for assistance across the region, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

- The Werribee area - saw significant destruction
- Hoppers Crossing area - various assistance requests
- Wyndham area - 179 emergency requests
At the height on Sunday, more than 28,000 power users in Victoria were without power.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was predicted as the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across various areas of both states.
Medical Alert
Public health experts alerted that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This alert comes after historical occurrences where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the area.
