An extensive extended journey around the Land Down Under was terminated days after the tragic passing of an senior woman who was abandoned by the ship on a remote tropical isle.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with shipmates from the vessel, but parted ways from the group for a break. The liner sailed away leaving her and came back after some time after the ship staff became aware the woman was missing.

A major hunt found her person the next day.

Authorities are examining the tragedy, alongside police and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the shipping company stated that guests and personnel on the vessel were notified that the continuation of the journey had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and earlier technical problems".

Via official communication, he added that travelers would be provided a total repayment, and said the company was working "to coordinate the travel back of the travelers via chartered flights".

Authorities also published an latest announcement, and said they had "issued a directive to the Master" prohibiting any further travelers from boarding the liner.

The spokesperson said that they would attend the ship in Cairns upon its return.

The ship initially left Cairns on the 24th of October, and was only 48 hours into the voyage at the point of the elderly woman's demise. Lizard Island was the first stop on the journey.

The offspring of the victim said that her family was "shocked and grieved that the liner left the location after an planned tour without my mother".

In her statement, she characterized her mum as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a participant of a walking group.

"According to scant details we have been told, it appears that there was a failure of responsibility and ordinary reasoning," she mentioned.

She added that she wished the inquiry would be able to pinpoint what "the operator should have done that might have preserved Mother's life".
